Green Schools Committee

Green Schools Committee

The Patrician Academy Green Schools Committee meets every Wednesday at 13.05 in the Art room. This year there are six students on the committee – Ronan Langford 3C (Chairperson), Cian O’Keeffe 3C (Secretary), Lee Napier 2C (PRO), Hugh Ahern 2C, Rian O’Reilly 3C and Ben Cremin 3C. Ms Regina Glynn and Ms Ann-Marie Walsh help run and organize the meetings each week. At meetings we all have an equal voice and get the chance to share our thoughts and opinions. The Green Schools committee is open to all students and we welcome new members at any time. Last year, the Greens Schools committee linked in with the Mallow Tidy Towns committee and helped them with litter picks in the local area. In previous years the Greens Schools Committee has focused on different themes such as biodiversity and the pollution of our oceans. In 2019 we received a Young Environmentalist Award for Marine Matters. This year we are collaborating with the Global Citizenship Education students in TY and have decided to focus on reducing plastic waste and recycling.
