The Patrician Academy’s Senior Basketballers got the season off to a great start with a clean sweep last Monday up in Neptune Stadium.
The first game against SMGS Blarney was a tight contest but the Academy managed to maintain an early lead throughout, winning 59-50. Top scorers: Daniel O’ Sullivan 14, Shane Ferris 11, Kevin Fitzpatrick 10.
Next up were Coláiste Choilm. The Academy boys dominated this game from the tipp-off, winning comfortably in the end 68-39. Top scorers: Kevin Fitzpatrick 18, Ronan O’ Sullivan 8, Rowan Doherty 7.
The final game was against Ballincollig Community School. This turned out to be a cracking contest with both teams shooting the lights out. The Academy boys found it difficult to contain BCS’s Rory Flynn who was putting on an absolute masterclass but they kept their composure and came out with a great win in the end, final score 77-45. Shane Ferris 22, Kevin Fitzpatrick 18, Ronan O’ Sullivan 17.
The Academy boys now face St. Aidans next week in the Quarter-Final of the South Boys.
