October 16th – 20th is Climate Action Week, and here in the Academy our boys in the Grow it, Cook it, Eat it class have been busy seed saving. Seed saving couldn’t be easier; just ensure your seeds are totally dry before storing in a cool, dark, dry place until ready for planting in the spring. Saving seeds is both good for your pocket, our planet and biodiversity. The seeds from successfully grown plants will be better suited to your local micro-climate and soil conditions. When buying seeds for planting and seed saving, buying open pollination rather than F1 hybrid seeds will ensure the seeds you save will grow into the same as the parent plant. Enjoy your free plants!
